Proof of God’s Existence

In surfing around the web today, I found a wonderful ebook by Patrick Harrity called “Meat For Christians”.  I bought it .. it was only $7.00 and worth more than that.  It covers all kinds of subjects, but the one that caught my eye was the Proof of God’s Existence.    There are people (like me for instance)  that want more than someone telling us that something is so.  They want facts and proof if available to support the fact.   Here is a clearly intelligent, thoughtful, irresistible  proof that would easily stand up in any court of law in the world using the legal standard of beyond a reasonable doubt.  That’s a very tough standard to meet and requires scientific, mathematical elimination of  all possibilities that might otherwise explain the premise.

Proof of a Creator God

An E. coli bacterium is a single-celled organism comprised of about 20 billion non-water atoms.  It is like a micro machine with 20 billion parts all intricately assembled in a water medium.  Its complexity has been likened to that of an entire city.  By comparison, a car may only have 20 thousand parts, only one millionth as many, but ten billion billion times bigger.  E. coli is shaped like a hot dog but very small.  About 40 of them could stretch across the width of a human hair; that’s like 40 microscopic machines, each of which has a million times as many parts as a car, parked end-to-end across the width of a human hair.

If an E. coli bacterium were disassembled into its component parts (atoms), the probability that it would spontaneously reassemble is estimated at one chance in 10100,000,000,000, where 10100,000,000,000 is a 1 followed by one hundred billion zeroes.[1] To put this into a more familiar form, that of percentages, the percent chance of this happening would be:

One hundred billion zeroes here, and then finally a one at the end.

Or, to put it another way, the percent chance that this wouldn’t happen would be:

99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999… 9999999999999999%

One hundred billion nines here.

These numbers are so long it would take 3,171 years just to read one of them at one digit per second.

Now, which is more reasonable?  Is it more reasonable that to conclude that something with essentially zero chance of occurring has occurred (the evolutionist’s argument) or is it more reasonable to conclude that something with essentially 0% chance of occurring has not occurred (this is the creationist’s argument, that life didn’t come about by chance but that it was created by God, as described in the Bible).  And which takes more faith to believe?

Would you bet a dollar that life could occur by chance with these odds?  Would you bet your house?  Would you bet your eternal soul?  I doubt even the most zealous evolutionist would bet a dollar or his car or his house on those odds (ask one and see).  But they are willing to bet something infinitely more valuable–their eternal souls–on these impossible odds.  Why?  Because they so strongly refuse to give up their sins.

John 3:19-20, [Jesus said] “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.  (NKJ)

But God loves them, and they can change, if only they believe in Jesus Christ and receive Him as Lord.

John 3:16-17, [Jesus said] “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.  (NKJ)

What is impossible?

Science generally defines anything with a chance less than one in 1050 as to be so remote that it can be considered impossible[2] or miraculous.   1050 is a hundred thousand billion billion billion billion billion.  However, even if we were to make this a thousand billion billion billion times larger, it only increases the number to one in 1080 (the estimated number of atoms in the universe), still vastly less than one chance in 10100,000,000,000, the chance of a single bacterium coming about by chance.

By this standard the evolution of live is well beyond impossible.

What about increased time?

The universe is estimated to be about 14 billion years old.  That’s 7.4×1015 minutes.  Let’s add a lot more time and give evolution, which is in its death bed, a fighting chance.  Let’s say the universe is a billion billion times older, or 14 billion billion billion years old.  That would be 7.4×1033 minutes.

Let’s further say that the entire universe is nothing but crushed up E. coli bacteria.  In fact the universe is mostly hydrogen, so this should give evolution a tremendous infusion of hope, one would think.  There are an estimated 1080 atoms in the universe.  An E. coli bacterium has 2×1010 atoms.  If the entire universe were nothing but disassembled E. coli atoms, there would be the equivalent number of atoms to produce 5×1069 E. coli.

E. coli takes about 20 minutes to divide (replicate itself).  Let’s use that same amount of time for the potential spontaneous generation or random assembly of E. coli from component atoms.  There would then be 3.7×1032 20-minute periods in 14 billion billion billion years.  Multiplying this by the number of bacteria gives 1.9×10102 chance trials for random assembly[3].

The odds then of a bacteria coming together by chance from a universe composed of nothing but crushed up bacteria over 14 billion billion billion years would then be (2×10102 chance trials)/(10100,000,000,000 chance trials needed), or one chance in 5×1099,999,999,897, still vanishingly negligible despite our enormously generous stacking of the odds.  Moreover, it matters little whether more time is added or even more mass or if the replication speed is lessened; the science and the numbers are simply too vastly against the random assembly of complex structures for this to be a reasonably prospect.  These numbers absolutely kill evolution.  But few know it because these facts are not widely publicized, and the impossibility is still taught as fact.

Evolutionists who know the real science know evolution is dead.  That is why they are desperately scrambling to come up with new theories, like directed panspermia, which proposes that aliens seeded planet earth with life.  But this only transfers the problem to the aliens.  Where did they come from?

Which position requires more faith?  To believe in something whose odds are essentially zero (evolution) or to believe in something whose odds are essentially 100% (creation)?

And again, this is just for one single-celled organism.  Imagine how much further remote it would be for the evolution of a human being, which consists of about 100 trillion individual cells, all highly specialized and exquisitely coordinated with each other.   You could clearly believe in the Easter Bunny eaiser than believe that the entire universe was accidental.   There are only TWO choices.  Either it’s chaotic and irrational and totally random creation of all this is or it all was created by an intelligent being.   (God)

What’s in a Name .. Biblical Names for Jesus

What’s in a name? A name tells us who your father’s family is and was and your first name gives us some indication of who you are or what qualities of character you possess.   Titles you possess, such as J.D., M.D., PhD tell us what your work is and based on the title, how much you know about the profession you have chosen.  Your name is a crown that you wear all the days of your life.  (Sometime I’ll postulate on the serious work of naming our children.  Something to be taken very seriously.)

Jesus of Nazareth has accounted to him many many names and titles.  Each of them are accurate and purposeful in telling us something about him and his nature.  It’s REALLY amazing that one person can have SO many facets to his personage.   Each and every one of his names or titles helps us to understand role that Jesus plays in God’s salvation plan.   Jesus is mentioned in the Bible 1231 times and is the central figure of both the Old and New Testaments.   In my mind, it is impossible to know Jesus without knowing his names and titles.  Read these and see if you don’t agree .. What happens when you fall down the stairs ?

About 8 weeks ago now, I fell down some stairs in our house. I can now tell you for sure that getting airborne at my age without an airplane underneath me never ends up well. I simply over stepped one stair and BOOM, in a fraction of a second, I was on my backside and immediately, the pain was so intense that I could not breath. Turns out I cracked the Fibula which is the long skinny bone on the outside of the leg. I also cracked the tarsals in my ankle.

These cracks were both hairline but never the less, it put me in my butt, in my La-Z boy recliner for the next 8 weeks. The orthopedic doctor fitted me with a boot cast and I had crutches with strict instructions to NOT put any weight on my right leg. What a bummer!  Thank God for my wife. She waited on me hand and foot.  What a blessing she was to me.  Another blessing of a loving God.  By the way, I never really got the hang of using those crutches.

Well, this last week, I saw my doctor and Praise God, he said that I can start to bear weight on the leg, although I’m supposed to continue to wear my boot cast for at least the next 4 weeks.

When all this first happened, I wondered why me ? I had tons of work to do and I simply could NOT afford to be laid up for 8 weeks ! Why, Why, Why ?

Well sometimes, God has to get our attention. He doesn’t do anything TO us, he can simply withhold his protection of our physical body for a fraction of a second and BOOM, we fall apart!  Like a cheap suit.   Look at the book of Job sometime to see how that  works.  How fragile we are !  Now I do not believe that God causes bad things to happen.  We live in the “age of grace” and God is presently withholding his judgment on a wicked, corrupt world.  The truth is that this world we live in a VERY BAD and BAD things would happen constantly if God didn’t provide his influence upon our physical world. The Bible teaches that Jesus is the “GLUE” that holds the universe together.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  Colossians 1:15-16

What if this were NOT true ?  Every molecule in your body would simply separate and fall to the ground. You would be DEAD, DEAD, DEAD if that happened.

Have you ever driven down the street at say 40 miles per hour ? Sure you have and you probably have not considered that your very life is on the line. You are often no more than 20 feet from sure death. The cars on the other side of the road is coming at you at 40 miles per hour and if EITHER of you loose control, you impact each other at 90 miles per hour !

There are dozens of other examples that we take for granted every day.  GOD IS REALLY BIG and WONDROUS.    How great is his attention toward us !

Lamin CrossDid you ever hear of  laminin. Here is how wikipedia describes them …  “Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every animal tissue.” You see, laminins are what hold us together….LITERALLY. They are cell adhesion molecules. They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell. Without them, we would literally fall apart.

Here is what the structure of laminin looks like…AND THIS IS NOT a “Christian portrayal” of it….if you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature, this is what you will see…  TOTALLY AMAZING !!  The “GLUE” that holds our bodies together is in the shape of the Cross !

So what is keeping the world from total chaos and permitting the evil that surely exists right now from destroying this world ?  The answer is the Holy Spirit.  The  bible says that he “restrains” the evil by his presence in the world.

Here is what Paul said to the Thessalonians (2 Thessalonians 2:3-7)

3Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the [a]apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition), (Anti Christ)

4Who opposes and exalts himself  so proudly and insolently against and over all that is called God or that is worshiped, [even to his actually] taking his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming that he himself is God.(B)

5Do you not recollect that when I was still with you, I told you these things?

6And now you know what is restraining him [from being revealed at this time];  (Holy Spirit) it is so that he may be manifested (revealed) in his own [appointed] time.

7For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority) is already at work in the world, [but it is] restrained only until he who restrains (Holy Spirit) is taken out of the way.

So Paul is telling us that the Holy Spirit restrains the evil from completing its purposes.  One day soon, and very soon, the Holy Spirit is leaving this world and guess what ?  You ( if you have accepted your free ticket)  and I are going with him !   Hallelujah !!

If you have NOT received the FREE gift provided by Jesus at Calvary, then do it today.   Doing that will reserve you a seat on the Hallelujah train.  You never know when The Holy Spirit will remove himself and the age of Grace will end. You DO NOT want to be left behind when that happens.  I can imagine lots of broken legs then, along with other broken things.

How come the Trinity is so complicated ?

The subject of the Trinity is complex for one reason.    The idea that one God exists in three separate persons is a mind bender.  How can it be ??   How can the singular God exist and at the same time, three distinct persons exist that each have the right to be called God ??   For many non-believers, this is non-senseless double talk.

So, maybe with a little understanding, we can make this complicated idea not quite so complex.

To begin with, we need to look at God’s nature  ..  that is to say His characteristics, His attributes, His qualities.

Christianity claims that the God of all things is unique in that He alone has the following divine characteristics:

  1. SUPREMACY The God of Judaism and Christianity is the Supreme Being.  He is not merely a different type of being or a superior being but the Supreme Being.
  2. UNIQUENESS God is unique.  The Bible describes Him in Greek as monogenesis, i.e., “one of a kind”, “having a unique nature.”
  3. ETERNALNESS He always has existed and always will exist.  He had no beginning and will never cease to exist.  (Also see IMMORTAL below.)
  4. OMNISCIENCE He knows all things.
  5. OMNIPOTENCE He is all powerful.
  6. OMNIPRESENCE He is everywhere at the same time.
  7. SELF-EXISTENT God is the only thing that had no beginning, that was not created by something else.
  8. HOLINESS Holy means pure, undefiled.
  9. THEISTIC The God of the Bible is theistic. He does not distance Himself from that which He creates. He gets actively involved in the activities of the things He created.  In fact, the God of the Bible ‘micromanages’ things.
  10. TRANSCENDENT God transcends that which He created, i.e., He “goes beyond” that which He created, He is not limited to, He is not bound by that which He created.

Christianity claims that, in addition, this unique God shares the following characteristics with certain of his creation:

  1. ALIVE The one God is a living being.
  2. PERSONAL God is a living person with thoughts, reactions, etc., not an impersonal thing.
  3. SPIRIT A spirit is a living being that is incorporeal, i.e., it does not possess a physical body.   Note that Jesus took on a physical human body.  It is not an inherent part of His nature. By comparison, our bodies are part of our human nature but we put on clothes.
  4. INTELLIGENT His knowledge exceeds all other knowledge.  He is pure knowledge and intelligence.  Nothing that can be known  is absent from his intelligence.
  5. SENTIENCE A sentient being has intelligence, and also is aware of its own existence, and aware that there is a ‘big picture’.  For instance, cats, dogs, and horses have intelligence but probably are not sentient.
  6. IMMORTAL God is a being that will live forever.
  7. SEPARATE God is separate from that which He created.  The universe itself is not God. (The opposite is pantheism.  Some “nature” religions believe that the universe itself is god.

Look at all of the characteristics of God and see that they can be applied INDIVIDUALLY to each member of the Godhead.  Do you see that each quality and characteristic is held by each ?  Each has a will, can speak, can love, etc., and these are demonstrations of personhood.  They are in absolute perfect harmony consisting of one substance.  They are coeternal, coequal, and copowerful.

Yet, there is ONLY one GOD !

Maybe here, we’ll say a word or two about what the Trinity is NOT .. God is not one person, the Father, with Jesus as a creation and the Holy Spirit as a force (Jehovah’s Witnesses). Neither is He one person who took three consecutive forms, i.e., the Father, became the Son, who became the Holy Spirit.  Nor is God the divine nature of the Son (where Jesus had a human nature perceived as the Son and a divine nature perceived as the Father (Oneness theology).  Nor is the Trinity an office held by three separate Gods (Mormonism).

Think of it this way.  You are one person, yet you may be a father or mother, a son or a daughter, a brother or a sister.  You could say that each of the offices are held by distinct persons yet YOU are only one being.   The definition of person is important here.  It’s biblical definition is not what we think of in the modern western world.  To the ancients, personhood “was in some sense individual, but always in community as well.  Each person is understood as having the one identical essence or nature, not merely similar natures.  The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit have ONE identical essence or nature, but are uniquely individual as well.

This idea of a composite unity is not a foreign concept to the Bible; after all, man and wife are said to be one flesh.  The idea of a composite unity of persons is spoken of by God in Genesis (Gen. 2:24)

The doctrine of the Trinity is essential to the evangelical Christian belief.   It is the doctrine that there is only one God, not three, and that the one God exists in three persons: Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. An good analogy would be time.  Time is past, present, and future.  But, there are not three times, only one.

Do States have the right to protect its citizens and borders ?

Liberal thinkers will apply an interpretation of Constitution that is presumptive in favor of the Federal Government.   They will tend to believe that the Federal Government is superior and States rights are completely secondary.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.   There are two ways to view and interpret the Constitution .  One is to say that we may ONLY do what the law specifically says we can do.   The second method would say ANYTHING  not specifically prohibited is legal.  The US Constitution follows the latter hermeneutic.  All rights not granted SPECIFICALLY to the Federal Government is therefore left to the States.

The Constitution was written to LIMIT the power of the Federal Government not to expand it.  Nothing in the document prohibits the states from having their own laws relating to ANY subject as long as it does not violate or go against the Federal Law,  and this is VERY IMPORTANT .. assuming that the Federal Law itself is constitutional.   Otherwise, SOVEREIGNTY is left to the States and to the people.  How far from this original principle have we strayed ?

Arizona recently passed a state law that basically says two things .. “You can NOT be in Arizona if your are an  ILLEGAL undocumented alien” and “Law enforcement officers now MUST enforce Federal Immigration law to its fullest extent” .  Under this law, police and other authorities in the exercise of their normal enforcement of the law may ask under reasonable cause for identification.  This law does NOT permit random and indiscriminate profiling of individuals on the basis of race strictly for the determination of immigration status.

So, the practical question is .. Can Arizona or any other state pass such a law?  Nothing in Federal Law or the Constitution prohibits Arizona or any other State from having a law as long as it is consistent with Federal Law.   For instance, If Indiana wanted to pass a law on marijuana it could and HAS.  However, It could not legalize marijuana in contraveance to the Federal Laws against marijuana .  (Now I have to insert here that I don’t believe that the Federal Government has any business having any law regarding the intake of any substance.  Nothing in the Constitution grants that  right to them).   Indiana’s marijuana laws are a perfect example where a State passed a law the is simply uploading the Federal law.  That is all Arizona did.

I would suggest that you read Article 1, Sections 1-10 and tell me where you see any prohibition against anything  that Arizona has done.  Notice too that the powers of the Congress is VERY limited.   Here is what it says in Article 1 Section 8

“To establish a uniform rule of naturalization, and uniform laws on the subject of bankruptcies throughout the United States;”

Notice that the word “immigration” is never used.  It’s amazing what the Constitution DOES NOT SAY !   NOT a word about illegal immigration and what can or cannot be done about it.

A  proposal offered by Thomas Jefferson during the Constitutional convention of 1788 regarding immigration .. gives us a good idea of the purpose and intended meaning of the 9th and 10th Amendments.

“Alien friends are under the jurisdiction and protection of the laws of the state wherein they are; that no power over them has been delegated to the United States, nor prohibited to the individual states, distinct from their power over citizens; and it being true, as a general principle, and one of the amendments to the Constitution having also declared, that “the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited to the states, are reserved, to the states, respectively, or to the people,” the act of the Congress of the United States, passed the 22d day of June, 1798, entitled “An Act concerning Aliens,” which assumes power over alien friends not delegated by the Constitution, is not law, but is altogether void and of no force.”

The Tenth Amendment was designed to cover the subject of States Rights.   Jefferson and Madison were strongly opposed to the Federal Government passing laws regarding immigrants .. Look a the history of the Aliens and Sedition Acts sometime.  They thought that each State should have the right to determine immigration issues for themselves.  The Federal Government they argued ONLY had control of the process for such immigrants naturalization.  Nothing more.

States rights were definitely NOT determined or settled by the Civil War as some claim ..  only whether a State had the right of secession  or not.  If you think the issue was settled, study the 2000 cases filed yearly in the Federal courts regarding States Rights.  In order for the Constitution to work, it must be defended continually.  Otherwise, the Federal Government will do EXACTLY what Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were afraid of .. take over completely and trample on individual freedom and the rights of the sovereign states to pass laws at the direction and will of its citizens.

One last thing .. the Constitution does REQUIRE the Federal Government to protect our borders against INVASION ..  In Arizona no less than 1000 illegal aliens  cross the border EVERY DAY, 365 days per year !  That’s qualifies in my mind as an invasion.

Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution

“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

Notice too that there is nothing here stopping Arizona from passing laws of its own to do the same.   That’s what they did.  To prohibit Arizona from protecting its citizens from drug cartels, gangs and others who are clearly thumbing their nose at both State and Federal laws is ridiculous.

I can’t stress enough that the folks we are talking about are ILLEGAL.  No state has the right to pass any law to restrict the movement or deprive the rights of LEGAL aliens.  ILLEGAL no .. LEGAL yes.   That’s what the Arizona law says.

How many different taxes do we pay anyhow ?

At the turn of the last century, America was a powerful nation, had ZERO national debt and its citizens enjoyed a level of prosperity unknown in the history of the world to that point.  Opportunity and freedom caused millions from all over the world to want to come to America .. most came legally, worked hard and contributed to the welfare of the country.

Since that time, Congress after Congress has passed legislation along with the necessary taxes to pay for the systematic destruction of the greatest nation on earth.

See if you recognize any of these taxes on the list below and ask yourself if you really believe that any of these will ever be eliminated or reduced ?   The truth is that ALL of them will be increased.  So, when President Obama says he’s NOT going to increase your taxes, either he lies, or is just the biggest damn fool ever to occupy the oval office.  I do NOT think he is a fool.  He thinks you and I are stupid and will not compile a list of all the NEW taxes his insane policies will force on us.

Remember too that NONE of these taxes existed in 1910.   Then ask yourself what the future holds.    What will the next 100 years bring ?

If Jesus is God surely the Bible would say so ?

If you have ever gotten the chance to sit down with a Jehovah’s Witness and discuss the Bible, you will quickly find that they deny the deity of Jesus. He was a prophet they will tell you and a good man, but NOT Almighty God. Perhaps they will even agree that he is a “Son of God”, but so are all of us.

Jehovah’s Witness are specifically trained to NOT discuss this subject with you and if you do get them to look at the Bible, and discuss it, they will want to use their “Green” bible which of course modifies key scriptures to their liking and in entire disagreement with every other translation that exists.

I always find it interesting to note that they believe that Jesus was a good man and a prophet but yet they don’t see that if that’s all he was, then he lied to us, that he was a fraud and not the messiah that he claimed to be.   There is NO way he could have been both.

None the less, I often share the following with them .. I print it off and give it to them when they call at my door .. They usually refuse to take it and want instead to give me one of their “WatchTower” publications which I gracefully accept.

I don’t do this to be disagreeable, but I do pray that perhaps they will read this astounding list of similarities between Jehovah and Jesus Christ.  I cannot understand how anyone could read the scripture in this comparison and still deny that Jesus Christ IS GOD !

By the way, I got this chart from a wonderful website maintained by Rich Deem  .. Rich is a scientist and his site contains answers to questions for people who need a more scientific approach to their understanding.  Someone like me.

Was Jesus really God ? Why it doesn’t take blind faith to believe in him.

Do you believe that Jesus was God ?   Did you know that it’s not necessary to approach this belief blindly ?  Instead, it’s quite possible to take it all very logically.

Jesus made very specific claims as to his deity and those claims directly led to his crucifixion and death.

John 10:31-33 [31] Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, [32] but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?” [33] “We are not stoning you for any of these,” replied the Jews, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

In the book “Know why you Believe”,  by Paul Little, we read that as we face the claims of Christ, there are only four possibilities. He was either a liar, a lunatic, a legend, or the Truth. If we say He is not the Truth, we are automatically affirming one of the other three alternatives, whether we realize it or not.

(1) One possibility is that Jesus lied when He said He was God — that He knew He was not God, but deliberately deceived His hearers to lend authority to His teaching. Few, if any, seriously hold this position. Even those who deny His deity affirm that He was a great moral teacher. They fail to realize those two statements are a contradiction. Jesus could hardly be a great moral teacher if, on the most crucial point of His teaching — His identity — He was a deliberate liar.

(2) A kinder, though no less shocking possibility, is that He was sincere but self-deceived. We have a name for a person today who thinks he is God. That name is lunatic, and it certainly would apply to Christ if He were deceived on this all-important issue. But as we look at the life of Christ, we see no evidence of the abnormality and imbalance we find in a deranged person. Rather, we find the greatest composure under pressure.

(3) The third alternative is that all of the talk about His claiming to be God is a legend — that what actually happened was that His enthusiastic followers, in the third and fourth centuries, put words into His mouth He would have been shocked to hear. Were He to return, He would immediately repudiate them.

The legend theory has been significantly refuted by many discoveries of modern archeology. These have conclusively shown that the four biographies of Christ were written within the lifetime of contemporaries of Christ. Some time ago Dr. William F. Albright, world-famous archaeologist now retired from Johns Hopkins University, said that there was no reason to believe that any of the Gospels were written later than A.D. 70. For a mere legend about Christ, in the form of the Gospel, to have gained the circulation and to have had the impact it had, without one shred of basis in fact, is incredible.

For this to have happened would be as fantastic as for someone in our own time to write a biography of the late John F. Kennedy and in it say he claimed to be God, to forgive people’s sins, and to have risen from the dead. Such a story is so wild it would never get off the ground because there are still too many people around who knew Kennedy. The legend theory does not hold water in the light of the early date of the Gospel manuscripts.

(4) The only other alternative is that Jesus spoke the truth. From one point of view, however, claims don’t mean much. Talk is cheap. Anyone can make claims. There have been others who have claimed to be God. I could claim to be God, and you could claim to be God, but the question all of us must answer is, “What credentials do we bring to substantiate our claim?” In my case it wouldn’t take you five minutes to disprove my claim. It probably wouldn’t take too much more to dispose of yours. But when it comes to Jesus of Nazareth, it’s not so simple. He had the credentials to back up His claim. He said, “Even though you do not believe Me, believe the evidence of the miracles, that you may learn and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.” John 10:38

Think about it .. which of these 4 possibilities will you believe.  I hope you will agree that it would be blind foolishness not accept the 4th possibility.

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ” John 14:6

What are you worried about ?

Philippians 3:12-14

12Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

“Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it gets you nowhere.” – Glenn Turner

If you are observant, you can see that many people around you are worried about one thing or another.   When you ask “What are you worried about”, you will most likely get some kind of answer from just about everyone.  Rarely if ever will you hear “I am not worried about anything.“ .

We continually waste time and energy concerned about things that

a) Will likely never happen and

b) We have no control of anyhow.

It wears us out and we rob ourselves of any kind  of happiness, peace and joy as a result.  We somehow convince ourselves that if WE do not worry about things the world as we know it will cease to be.  How inconsistent that is with what God says.   How selfish and self centered.  Worry is really a denial that God is in control and sovereign and he alone determines the outcome of our circumstances.  Worry is the antitheist of faith.  The cannot exist in the same context.  One is light and the other is dark.  One is anti-God and the other is God-centric.  Worry is a denial that God can and will do anything in your circumstance.

People often wander aimlessly through life without a purpose and without any meaningful and worthwhile goals. Even more tragic are the millions who go through life without ever having made plans and preparation for life after death.

These people not only spend their life going in circles, but go in ever decreasing circles until their life diminishes into nothing. A terrible way to live. A tragic way to die.

But for those who discover their God-given life-purpose and plan and live accordingly as well as living in harmony with the will of God, when they come to the end of life’s journey, they have the assurance of meeting God face to face and hearing his welcoming words at the entrance of heaven. “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord.” A joyous way to live. A triumphant way to die!

How about you ?  You worried about something ?
